Fertilization & Weed Control:Our standard fertilization & weed control program is 6 applications.
These occur 4-6 weeks apart starting in the Spring. Although the majority of our customers use the 6 application program,
you do have the option of 4 or 5 application programs.
One of the many benefits of our lawn care programs
is the backing of our “Clean & Green” Guarantee. Our guarantee to you…if the weeds don’t
die or your lawn does not green up at any time within 30 days of an application, just contact us, and we will return at no
additional cost. If you have a problem, simply give us a phone call or use the Service Call request on this website
and we will be out within several days. It’s that easy!
Another benefit of our lawn care programs is
that we have the ability to handle difficult or hard to treat weeds such as ground ivy, violets, and nutsedge. Many
companies will not do what it takes to control some of these difficult weeds. In some cases, they will even charge you
more money just to try. Our technicians have the products and ability to handle virtually any weed problem as they see
them. In other words, if they see weeds, they spray them.

Lime/Gypsum ApplicationsMost of our customers have been switched from traditional lime applications
to gypsum applications. Why?
• The main benefit we were after in applying lime was calcium.
Gypsum is high in calcium
plus sulfur.
• Lime applications will raise the ph in your soil.
Gypsum will not. Most soil tests we have done in the West Michigan area show ph levels being high enough.
•
Sulfur is a nutrient that is on the low side in the majority of soil tests we have done.
• We are getting
a color response from gypsum where that would not happen with lime. At least not immediately.
• Gypsum
is a great soil conditioner for heavy soils.
So where does lime fit in?
Lime is still a product we will
use. Where a soil test has been done or on a site where we know the ph is going to be too low we will use lime.
Indications that the soil is acidic (low pH) would be…
• Sandy Soil
• Moss growing
in full sun areas
• The weed “red sorrel” is an indicator of low pH
• Subdivisions
that were previously blueberry fields or are near them may have a low pH level.

Core AerationHere’s how it worksAs the aeration machine goes
across your lawn, soil cores are pulled from the ground and laid on top of your lawn. By poking thousands of these holes
in your lawn the following benefits occur…
• Improved air exchange
• Enhanced
soil water uptake
• Improved fertilizer uptake
• Reduced water run-off
• Reduced
soil compaction
• Enhanced heat tolerance
• Enhanced thatch breakdown
• Promoted
root growth
In simple terms, a lot of things happen that are beneficial to your lawn.
Although core
aeration is beneficial on all lawns, the following types of lawns should really have this done on an annual basis as part
of your lawn care program…
• Lawns with poor soil (clay, backfill, etc.)
• Lawns
with thin grass
• High traffic lawns (kids, pets, etc.)
• Old lawns that need to be reinvigorated
• Lawns with a high level of thatch
• If you are going to overseed your lawn
•
Semi Shaded Lawns
Once your lawn has been aerated, here are some helpful hints…Leave the cores. It is not
recommended to rake these up. Just continue to water and mow normally and the cores will break down and disappear within a
week or so.
Cost: The cost for core aeration is the cost of a lawn care application plus $30. To request
an estimate, please call our office or

Mole ControlMole Control is a very popular and effective program here at AAA Lawn Care, Inc.
I think you will agree that moles are a pain in the neck. They can destroy a perfectly good lawn in a very short amount
time. Of course, they are also a pain in the neck to get rid of.
Moles are like many wild animals.
They move about in search of food. As moles search for food, they also are making a mess of your lawn. A mole will eat a variety
of insect larva in the soil. Grubs are one of those larva. However, many experts believe as much of 90% of a mole’s
diet is earthworms. For this reason, applying an insecticide to eliminate the insect larva (grubs), does not guarantee the
moles will leave your lawn. They may be very content just eating earthworms. Therefore, we apply an insecticide only when
there is direct grub damage to your lawn. The insecticide application may or may not encourage the mole to leave.
So what are my options?
Use a mole trap. This is something you can do yourself. When properly used, they can
be very effective.
Or
Give us a try! We have the only mole bait proven to kill moles.
Although this product is effective, it doesn’t work overnight. It can take up to 30 days for the initial treatment
to kill the moles. Our service includes 2 visits from us, approximately 2 weeks apart. If there is continued mole activity,
we will return at
no charge to reapply as needed through December 31st of the year the service is scheduled.
Cost: The cost for our mole control program is based on the size of your lawn. To request an estimate, please
call our office or Request an Estimate on this website. Your technician will be out within 2 days to measure your lawn
and give you a free lawn analysis.
Grub ControlWhite Grubs are turf-damaging larva that feed on the root system of grass plants
in your lawn. These grubs are the larval stage of the May Beetle, June Beetle, Masked Chafer, European Chafter, Japanese
Beetle and various other shelled beetles.
Grubs really only damage lawns in the Spring and Fall. This
damage can occur very rapidly if you are not watching. We use a specific product when grub damage has been confirmed.
This will stop any more lawn from being destroyed. This is important because grub damaged areas typically will need
to be reseeded. It is advised to use a grub preventative as a follow up application in the summer if you have active
grub damage in a given season.
Preventative grub control products applied in mid-summer are very successful in
controlling grubs. Grubs mature into beetles in early summer, then they mate and lay new eggs back into the soil for
a new generation to begin. This is a 12-month cycle that can re-infest your lawn with grubs each year. For this reason you
may want to consider a preventative insecticide every year for your lawn. It is a very good idea if you suspect your
neighbors of having a grub infestation or if you have had grub damage in the past.
Cost: The cost for a grub
control application is double your regular lawn care application price. (For example: if your lawn care application price
is $42, then your Insecticide price would be $84)
Please note: There is a common belief that a mole problem
is related to grubs in the lawn. This is only partially true. Moles do feed on grubs, but the majority of a mole’s diet
is earthworms. In most cases, an insecticide will not eliminate the moles.
Surface Feeding Insect ControlThere are cases in any lawn where an insect infestation starts
and damage occurs to your lawn. These surface feeding insects such as chinch bugs, sod webworms, and billbugs can be
common in some areas. These infestations can be controlled by applying an insecticide product specifically formulated
for these pests. Our technicians have been trained on identifying infestations before they become problems. However,
we can always use your help. If you see brown spots or areas in your lawn that seem questionable, please contact us
for an evaluation.
Cost: The cost for a Surface Feeding Insect
Control is the same as your regular lawn care application price.
Organic Fertilization ProgramsWe have organic fertilizer programs available for our customers.
We use a product called Nature Safe. The word "organic" means all of the ingredients in Nature Safe are derived
from natural sources. Nature Safe contains no manure or sewage sludges. The natural ingredients found in Nature Safe are animal
proteins such as feather, bone, meat, fish, poultry and blood meals. These meals contain essential natural amino acids, chelated
secondary elements, vitamins and enzymes. The all natural ingredients in Nature Safe supply the food energy that increases
the number of microbes found in the soil as well as provide the basic nutrients needed for healthy plant growth.
Nature Safe products do not contain chemicals used to kill weeds. Instead, weeds are naturally controlled as the turf thickens.
This program is built on the concept of promoting healthy plant growth and limiting the use of weed control products. If weeds
are a concern, we will use a "spot" treatment program, in which the weed killer is applied directly to the affected
area only.
Cost: Our organic fertilization program is 2x the cost of our regular lawn care application cost.

2 days to measure your lawn and give you a free lawn analysis.
Crabgrass Pre EmergentThe Spring application includes crabgrass pre emergent. Crabgrass
pre emergent is not a perfect product. Weather does play a part in the effectiveness of the pre emergent. However,
our customers should never fear. Even if a bit of crabgrass does appear, we have post emergent products that we will
spray to control the crabgrass.
